Lasagne planting

Spring flowering

Lasagne planting is also known as layer planting. The names originate from the method of planting in layers in a pot or in your garden. The wonderful advantage of this method is that you will have flowering bulbs throughout spring in one spot.

Use a pot that drains well (preferably through a hole in the bottom). At the bottom of the pot, scatter some hydro grains or use fragments of broken earthenware. Scatter some soil on top of this and then plant the first layer of bulbs. Scatter some more soil on these, then plant the second layer, and so on.

Plant three or four layers and you will be able to enjoy your pot or border for longer, without having to do any additional work.

Below are a few examples of bulbs that you can use for lasagne planting.
